Musings

the 1st 21k

i always thought that 10k was going to be the longest run i will ever do.

but a medal from suarez for 21k finishers was just too difficult to resist 🙂

and so, on february 12, 2012,  we ran. we ran/walked/hopped on a rainy morning.
the drizzle made it easier really. made it less hot and humid. easier to breathe. easier on the skin.
apart from the rain, the route was well staffed with water and energy drinks and some bananas, too.

what made the run more special though were the people who trooped to the route.
we ran (most of the way) with a father and son team with the elder egging his young ward on.
there were young ones and young once. people of different built, different skin tones.

but what was most striking of all was how smiles were easily exchanged among running peers.

we finished the 21k route in roughly 3 hours. despite the really wet shorts and shirt that were clinging to our bodies. despite cramps creeping in.

special thanks to our good friend dong, who ran/walked with us through the entire 21km.
then again, he got good karma –  winning the major prize for the post-run raffle 🙂

and for what it’s worth. this is what we got. and of course the bragging rights of finishing a 21km race 🙂
