[travels past] Medellin Bamboo Forest

I must have been living under a rock of late ( or maybe I was on the wrong social media) since the day we went was the day I heard about this.

The Medellin Bamboo Forest was like an oasis of sorts given the flat land (known as the Aisle of Medellin) we drove through to get there.

Passing through this aisle of candle-like trees right before the road to the bamboo forest was a refreshing sight given the scorching summer heat.

There is a 30-peso/guest entrance fee which I would think will go to the upkeep of the place. There were some stores inside offering souvenir items and some food stalls and a kimono rental for those who want to get some japanesque vibes (think Kyoto’s Arashiyama which looks to be the obvious inspiration) for their photos.

Besides taking some photos, there were some areas with hammocks, tables and chairs where people can just chill out to enjoy the cool breeze within the bamboo grove. The altar towards the end was a nice touch giving people opportunity to say a pray of thanks or two. It was sad to note that some guests couldn’t help but vandalize some of the bamboos with their declaration of love and/or “i was here”.

Outside the bamboo forest is this pond which was just breathtaking.

The bamboo forest is worth a visit when around the area.
