The Israeli Museum was a must visit for me simply because i just love museums. Plus, the shrine of the book which houses the dead sea scrolls is there. so that alone is just amazing. The museum sits in the Givat Ram where it is neighbors with the Knesset, the Israeli Supreme Court, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
There are a lot to see in the Israeli museum but what really stood out for me were the dead sea scrolls, a nail used during crucifixion which was prevalent during Jesus Christ’s time, King Herod’s tomb amongst others. Their collection of artworks through the centuries including the more modern ones are all gawk worthy as well.
The dead sea scrolls are old manuscripts dated from around the 8th century BCE to around 11th century CE and found in the Qumran caves. It was amazing how perfectly written it was, almost like there were written using a machine.
The clear evidence of of crucifixion was a heel bone with iron (nail) driven through it. It illustrated how much more painful it was given that the feet where nailed at the side beams, different from the current image of Jesus christ’s feet on top of each other in the front part of the beam.
i could have spent days on end here. maybe next time.
