politically ugly

16 august 2017

DSWD Sec. Judy Taguiwalo showed the Filipino people how one government agency can be professionalized and be efficient in delivering public service and still serve with compassion.

before, relief goods for calamity stricken areas used to came in plastic bags.
now, they come properly packed in boxes.

before, it was the norm to ask for international aid when typhoons or earthquakes hit the country.
now, the government hardly ever asks for it. oh, except for the VP that is.

before, relief goods would either go to waste or wouldn’t reach the intended beneficiaries.
now, goods are properly distributed and are even checked properly for expiry dates.

before, dswd centers for the old, the forgotten, the handicapped are in a state of neglect.
now, centers are now being properly improved so they are fit for humans.

all these and more were seen with Sec Judy at the helm.

when the Commission on Appointments delivered a majority decision to NOT confirm Sec Judy as DSWD Secretary, one can’t help but wonder how on earth can this happen?

what is actually the bar to get confirmed for this appointment?

is the bar set for not being able to deliver public service where they are needed and as needed?
is the bar set for not being able to manage your budget properly?
is the bar set on how agreeable one is to share the dswd pie even if it is in violation of the law?

is the bar set for those who do not serve the Filipino people then?

while change has come, it is not complete yet. not by a long mile.

the elections couldn’t come early enough.
hopefully, the next set of CA members would actually be more deserving of their “honourable” titles.
