the advent of the internet and how it is so accessible right now has made communication so much easier. much more so with the numerous social networking sites where we often stumble across long lost friends, classmates, relatives we did not know we have and even new friends. digital communication is a boon for me whose writing has gone almost unreadable, something which i wrote about years ago here – handwriting.
keeping in touch now is just just a few taps and clicks away, either via email or via IM or just a simple status update via Facebook or twitter or whatever social network you are into.
however, while i myself live a largely digital life, i still long to write notes and greetings, even if i struggle to make it legible. while i no longer write letters, sending cards to friends lets me indulge in the desire to write on paper while keeping in touch with them. the bonus is when they do say i have given them a reason to smile, in one way or the other. 🙂
