DevCon Bai! recently hosted its first ever Mobile hackathon in Cebu at the Techbar with 2 esteemed universities ( University of San Jose-Recoletos and University of San Carlos) providing their best teams to the said event.
The theme was originally centered on Promoting Good Governance, Honest and Transparent Elections through Mobile Technology but the election related part was lost for some reason.
The Mobile apps though that the teams did come up were quite impressive and showed that we do have students who are well aware of what is happening in our society today and are consciously thinking of what they can do to help address these.
ReservMe is an answer to the queuing problems the regular Filipino will go through.
JHuntAR aims to help the job-seeking working class.
aComplain provides a platform for people to raise and report any issues, complaints they encounter in their day to day life.
Jeepney Joy Ride would like to help people find the best routes to use to get to their destination.

The invited judges, Charles Uy, Jerome Locson, Lope Emano were quite generous as well with their tips and insightful comments for the submitted entries.
While the teams were working on getting their babies to work, our accommodating judges also provided nuggets of wisdom ranging from Cocoa Design Patterns to Android Tech Talks geared towards advanced android programming and how to get started with a Mobile startup.
At the end of the day, everyone was pronounced winners but it was JHuntAr who took home the bacon with their Augmented Reality spiced application. Though the monetary prizes were not as big as the other hackathons sponsored by bigger corporations, the real prize was the experience of coming up with a working prototype within a limited time span of 10 hours, give or take a few hours and having seasoned mobile developers giving tips and improvement hints.
