filipinos value family first and foremost. and this extends to those who have passed on.
it still surprises me though how cemeteries turn into reunion parties and fiesta-like gatherings – complete with lechon and sumptuous food for the family and friends to share on all saint’s day.
hopefully, we don’t forget to actually remember our dead. to honor them with our presence and remember with the family and friends who they were and how they touched our lives. and to thank them for what they brought to our lives when they were still alive.
