driving to the south of cebu has always been a joy.
the roads are relatively well maintained although you do have to share the road with some drivers who have too much faith on their brakes working.
my most favorite part though would be the stretch from san fernando to carcar were there is a row of century-old acacia trees that act as canopy for the weary traveller.
yes, centuries old. they must have seen millions of travelers go about their way. seen the evolution of transportation – on foot, horseback, bicycles, automobiles.
but this may be something that the next generation of cebuanos will no longer be able to savor and experience. the road widening program currently in place is threatening their very existence.
a few have already paid the price. the one below is about to sacrifice itself.
it is very convenient to say, but that is the price of progress.
surely, with the advances in science and technology, there are better ways of modernization?
surely, we could have better planned this?
