Musings

claims. claims.

sitti got another scar. just lost 5k to a selfish atm. one  bummer after another. and because of these, i got  reacquainted to several claim procedures.
insurance claims ( i guess with bpi-ms ) has been a breeze. not exactly lightning quick but still quite fast. it always helps to make sure that you got all the requirements provided asap of course. so far, steps have been:
  •   prepare all supporting documents and submit to insurance company
    • police report
    • pictures of damages to property, of your car’s plate (front and back)
    • estimate of required fixes (preferably from car dealer / reputable car shop)
    • driver’s license and car registration copies and pictures
  • and wait for notification that it is all in!
  • Once LOA has been communicated to car dealer/car shop, “check in” your car!
ATM claims are no brainers as well but requires lots of patience.
After confirming that the amount I had tried to withdraw was indeed deducted from my account, I quickly called the Hotline number as pasted prominently on the ATM. Unfortunately, it was the wrong number after all, having been redirected to another department’s use. I ended up googling my bank’s number and asking for instructions on how to claim for a refund of the lost amount. And this is what I got.
  • Secure an ATM complaint form, (normally) available from any bank’s guard.
  • Fill up the complaint form with details about the claim (e.g. reason for claim, date and time of incident, amount of cash involved, etc).
  • Submit the completely filled up complaint form to your bank.
  • Wait while the ATM claims group investigates your complaint.  Supposedly up to 5 working days.
  • Check your ATM account from time to time. Should things tally up, you will get your money back.
Anyhow, no matter how simple or tedious the claims processing steps are, these things help:
  • Super helpful and attentive staff!
  • my flexible working hours
  • friends in the right places.
  • a smile 🙂
