meeting the ancient giants

i read about the giant sequoias (aka giant redwoods) way back in my elementary years when geography lessons included what are interesting things about a specific place.
it always amazes me when by chance, i get to actually feel and touch them – these ancient living things who have seen a number of generations all through their life.  centuries old, they thrive even when lightning and other forces of nature, and of men try to strike them down. even when it is felled, for as long as a part of the tree is living, it will likely to thrive and grow branches. this is why there are interesting “formations” can be seen.
being with century old trees, and giants at that just made me appreciate life all the more, and the chances it provides me. including a sister who willingly sponsored part of the (side) trip through the coast of california and oregon. i could be so lucky. 🙂
