Cebu as we all know is Sto. Nino country. One of Cebu’s major tourist attractions (that local and foreign visitors look forward to) is in fact a celebration of Sto Nino – The Sinulog. Organizers of the Sinulog has taken to sponsoring a photo contest meant to capture the celebrations.
I have always loved the Sinulog Photo Exhibits once the results of the photo contest are published. You cannot help but marvel how beautiful the pictures are along with the drama and color that went with it.
This year’s winner of the Sidelights category caught my eye and my heart as well. I could not help but wonder how exactly the lady in the photo is feeling. Is she crying for help? Pleading the Sto Nino to make her illness go away? Is it a cry of thanks? Perhaps she has only been recently bedridden but is now able to walk and give homage to the Sto Nino? How and whatever it is that this lady in the picture is experiencing, I pray that she and her family gets pass this particularly troubling time in their lives. I wish that all those who see this picture would do the same though. After all, if two or more pray for the same intention, God grants the petition.
