September 11, 2010. As a way to celebrate my company’s 9th year of EXISTence, we went on a tree planting activity and take part in Cebu’s reforestation.
i have done this before but this time, i brought along my nieces leanne and lexinne to hopefully get them more environmentally aware. Getting their hands dirty was part of the process but I think they came out of it proud to have planted 9 seedlings – as lexi recounted.
On my way to work, I see the mountains of Cebu and have seen it changing before my eyes. Whereas before, green was the main color, i see the color of concrete and exposed yellowish land as the more prevailing color scheme. I trust that the government would be vigilant in terms of enforcing environmental laws and policies as urbanization is slowly creeping into the Cebu mountains. I also pray that the real estate developers would have the conscience to be more careful in planning their developments so we will not lose flora and fauna endemic to Cebu to modernization.
