it was a particularly lazy saturday for me. was not really keen on going to a jampacked mall and join the melee of bargain hunters. just thinking of finding a parking space made me shudder. a throbbing headache sealed the decision for me. it was home sweet home day.
after catching up on sleep, i decided it was going to process my video/tv series backlog. started with Bones, Human Target, Criminal Minds and to end the video marathon, the movie that recently won sandra bullock an oscar nod, the blind side.
the blind side is based on the story of Michael Oher. He was a homeless and traumatized boy who was met a wonderful family that helped him become an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick.
the blind side is a movie that reminds you to count your blessings. on top of this, one realizes that it is not only the disadvantaged that is helped but the helping party grows as well.
i am not really a movie critique per se but i liked sandra bullock’s performance. it was down to earth believable and consistent. the rest of the cast were equally believable. the story telling itself was clean and “light” but had the most meaningful dialogues that will pinch one’s heart and conscience.
the movie was tear-provoking (in a good way) and was able to draw out some good laughs as well. the best part though was that it was a thought-provoking experience for me. it made me wonder how i could also help (in my own little way) someone achieve their full potential.
