(unintentional) eavesdropping

after a day of housework (and yes, i do the occasional-clean-the-house act) and nolan’s day of tennis (playing with fingers only!), we went out for coffee to unwind. the original plan was to check out the new starbucks shop but it closed too early for us thus we ended up in mcdo for some reason. i guess the (4th) starbucks planner can wait 🙂

anyways, after discussing mundane things like the recent bank holidays of the rural banks and the recent christmas revelry and nice TODOs for the new year, we were drawn to the talk of barely legal teens simply because they were talking so loud it felt like we were part of their clique.

listening to them talk (oh well, we could not help but hear them anyway so might as well listen hehe) made us realize how different most teens now while away their time. while they talk of getting drunk at some gas station after a few hours at a local bar, our nights back then was either at home or the occasional birthday parties. but then again, maybe nolan and i were an exception even then. 🙂

we finally had our peace after the barely legal teens went off to wherever they were going to spend the rest of the evening.

soon after, i caught myself eavesdropping again. this time, i was wishing i knew how to do sign language so i can understand what some deaf-mutes were talking about. they seemed so animated and loud in their conversation.

so that was how our evening went. an evening of unintentional eavesdropping.
fun, informative, reflective. 🙂
