i finally got the chance to visit bacolod last year and the excuse was the masskara festival š
bacolod had always been a so near and yet so far affair for me. there had been a number of invitations extended but it was only recently that the group just agreed at the spur of the moment to ask jay to invite us over š
masskara was not as grandiose as the sinulog but it was still something to marvel at. the maskara that the dancers wore were not as light as how they appeared. i tried one on and was surprised at their weight and it was hot wearing it as well!
mambukal resort and its hot springs was also something that would definitely be a come on for others wanting to see bacolod.
what capped a very relaxing and entertaining stay was eating hot piaya š it was realization that piaya does not flake that much when it is hot. so for those who love piaya and just buy their stock from the grocery, try heating it first. i still have to try though which works best, microwave or toast it in the oven.
what i loved about bacolod was that it just had the right taste of urban life in a very laid back atmostphere. we are definitely going to be back as we felt there is so much more to see and experience š
