a tricycle ride

we took a tricycle ride to the meeting point for the island hopping dong had planned to mark his birthday. but this post is not about that. 🙂

the beauty of being a passenger is that i get to take a look at the scenery and see how people go about their lives. the more one is able to do this since tricycles generally run really slow. now matter how hard the motor grunts, the one we were riding was really trudging along.

subdivisions, resorts, condominiums sprouting where shrubs used to.
there was an old woman cleaning a car in the garage. a barber doing his thing. a few teenagers strolling along the side of the narrow street. and of course the tricycle driver who was concentrating on getting us to our destination.

as always, it crossed my mind whether life was harsh for them. most of them work and really sweat to get food on the table and perhaps even have to skip meals simply because they cannot afford it. but perhaps they sleep better at night.

and where was i going with this post? i feel guilty for at times splurging on things and justifying it because i worked hard for it. i feel guilty of paying for dinner that cost more than the mandated daily wage.

in the end though, it is really how we appreciate what we have now and giving it value. and to thank God for all these.
