working with interesting people from different cultures really is an enriching experience. especially after you get through their accent and finally understand what they are saying the first time.
anyways, it is really touching for them to go out of their way to learn filipino. to try and understand our culture. so to return the favor, i tried checking out a local bookstore for a recommendable book on learning to speak the language. for a tourist haven like cebu, it is really shocking to not be able to find a good book on learning to speak filipino. or did the bookstore just run out of copies? maybe i should check it after a few weeks. 🙂
after giving up on finding such a book, i checked out filipino literature. there were so few available. it seems that there were more learn how to speak italian, mandarin, japanese, french books. i however did not leave empty-handed. i got bob ong’s macarthur book for 100pesos. think that was a steal 🙂
